British Open Leaderboard: Shane Lowry Takes Lead After Two Rounds
Lowry Shoots 66 to Take Two-Shot Advantage
Shane Lowry of Ireland fired a 6-under 66 in the second round of the 2024 British Open at Royal Troon to take a two-shot lead over the field. Lowry, who won the 2019 Open Championship, is looking to become the first player to win the tournament twice since Seve Ballesteros in 1984.
European Players Dominate Top of Leaderboard
Lowry is not the only European player in contention for the Claret Jug. Justin Rose of England, the 2013 Open winner, is tied for second place after shooting a 67. World No. 1 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland is lurking two shots back after a round of 68.
The top-10 leaderboard is dominated by European players, with seven of the top 10 hailing from Europe. The only non-European player in the top 10 is Collin Morikawa of the United States, who is tied for seventh place after a round of 70.
